Visma acquires Teamleader and expands its work management software offering in the Benelux

Visma has acquired Teamleader, a leading international SaaS scale-up offering work management software for small and medium enterprises from investors Fortino Capital, Keen Venture Partners and PMV. Teamleader is founded in Belgium and also active in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. By joining the Visma family, Teamleader will benefit from Visma’s international network and expertise to accelerate its growth ambitions.

Teamleader was founded in July of 2012 to help entrepreneurs with their business. After years of developing custom software, it was clear to founder Jeroen De Wit that there is a demand for one user-friendly tool that can handle CRM, quotations, invoicing and project management.

Teamleader has since expanded into France, Spain, Italy and Germany, in addition toBelgium and the Netherlands. Ten years after the founding, more than 13,000 organisations work with Teamleader and over 10 billion Euros worth of invoices flow through Teamleader’s systems.

To meet the increased demand for software, to innovate faster and to accelerate its growth ambitions, Teamleader has joined Visma.

Jeroen De Wit, founder and CEO of Teamleader: "At Visma, we have ended up in a winning team where we keep the autonomy to continue our business. At the same time, we can get help in the areas of technology, security, commerce and business operations. In addition, there are many companies within Visma that serve the same target group as we do. That's why we can seize the opportunities that exist in the market together."

John Reynders, Area Director Benelux: "The way Teamleader helps companies grow really appeals to me. I come from an entrepreneurial family and know better than anyone that passion is the driving force behind running a business. But the business side of entrepreneurship is also important. Teamleader understands service organisations like no other. It has created the most user-friendly software on the market for them. I am proud that the fast-growing Teamleader has chosen to join Visma for its next phase. Together we can help service providers focus on their core business by simplifying and automating business processes."

Teamleader’s journey was supported by several VC investors. Fortino Capital was the first investor to lead the first investment round in 2014. In 2018, both Keen Venture Partners and PMV came in to further support Teamleader’s growth. As lead investor and chairman for 8 years, Duco Sickinghe (Managing Partner of Fortino Capital Partners) is very pleased with the next chapter Teamleader will write together with Visma. “As chairman and investor, it has been a pleasure to work with Jeroen for over 8 years and see Teamleader grow from just a few hundred customers in Flanders in 2014 to over 13,000 customers across Europe today. I truly believe Teamleader will be in good hands as part of the Visma group to continue to help SMEs work smarter.”

Teamleader will continue to operate under its own name and with its current team of 180 employees as an independent unit within the Visma Group. Agreements with customers remain unchanged.

Arma Partners acted as exclusive financial advisor to Teamleader on the transaction.
